Good Hope Gardens Photo Story

Summer is ending. A chill hits the air as soon as the sun falls behind the icy Atlantic Ocean. Autumn is here.

We have been blessed with rain over the past few days and the plants are loving it. It’s the very best kind of rain…a constant drizzle over a few days. It really soaks the earth and gives it a perfect watering.

With rain come growth and life. We have also had new developments at the nursery in the form of interesting landscaping projects, a rehabilitation project, wild food forage expeditions and progress in the Veldkos garden.

Not to mention working on our very exciting book – a big thanks to Robyn Hoepner – editor supreme – for helping make our dreams and ideas become a reality.

So to continue with all these positive vibes

Now you can just relax, kick back and enjoy this fun photo story of Good Hope Gardens…

Green Star SA Certified and a winter baby.

The good news came in that Good Hope Landscaping’s roof garden on project Cocoon Eco Lofts has been Green Star SA certified… Well done!!!

Plus – a new addition to the family…a beautiful baby girl born on full moon at the nursery. Heres Taskmasters hard landscapers hand with our soft tiny new borns…great contrast!

We are smack in the middle of winter now – a very cold bite in the air and all the leaves have completely fallen off the deciduous trees. Hail and stormy grey skies. It does feels like the wettest winter in a long time. The dam has filled up completely over the last few weeks….

Before:

And after:

Our winter veggies are coming along deliciously – soups, salads and sweet-smelling herbs to keep us healthy and happy.

Baby fennel is our current favourite : Baby fennel bulbs drizzled in olive oil, sprinkled with sea salt and baked in the oven for 15 minutes…so good!

We have even had a few sunny parties at the nursery on those special sun-filled, wind-still days you get in our Cape Town winters.

And wet weather does nothing to stop the Good Hope Gardens Landscaping team create their masterpieces:

So keep smiling and keep warm and enjoy gardening in this perfect-for-it weather!
