Spring Sale and the Indigenous Spring Garden Competition winners

On the 14th of September we had a fantastic Spring Sale here at the nursery. The weather really behaved for us and the nursery was looking beautiful.

Kids category winnersEli Amery won the online junior photo entry – plant photo entitled “Indigenous is fun” and won a
R150 voucher from La Chatelaine
and a R100 gift voucher from Good Hope Gardens Nursery

Roxi and Skyla Hoets-Turner won the most creative junior indigenous garden and won a
Playground Party Venue voucher for 3hours valued at R750 from Good Hope Gardens Nursery
and a cute Dreamweavers kids wooden chair.

The winners for the Online photo entry – plant photo entitled “Indigenous beauty” could unfortunately not make it, but the winners were
Eva van Belle won first place – an Ilundi hand stitched leather I-pad case valued at R450
and Rayne Eaton in Second place – winning a R250 meal voucher from Decks restaurant in Kommetjie

The most creative small space indigenous garden winners were
Rosemary Barker in first place – who won a meal voucher from The
Annex for a two course meal for two people

Mrs E van der Vyver in second place – winning a GHGN 1hour Guided Fynbos Walk for four people, valued at R350Mrs E van der Vyver
Third place went to Greg Nicolson who won a R200 Good Hope Gardens Nursery voucher but he was in Madagascar at the time of the prize giving

Most diverse large indigenous garden winners were:
First place – a Garden clean-up from Good Hope Gardens Landscaping, valued at R1000 was won by Susan Thirion

Good Hope Gardens Nursery’s


Promoting biodiversity through indigenous planting in our South Peninsula gardens

Good Hope Gardens Nursery is launching an exciting gardening competition running from the 1st of June 2013 until the 1st of September 2013. Judging criteria for the competition include indigenous plant choice suited to your specific area, water-wise gardening methods and creative and functional design.


  • Most creative small space indigenous garden –  includes balcony, patio, container gardens and gardens under 100sqm
  • Most diverse large indigenous garden – includes gardens over 100sqm
  • Most creative junior indigenous garden – includes any garden created by gardener under 16 years old
  • Online photo entry – plant photo entitled “Indigenous beauty”
  • Online junior photo entry – plant photo entitled “Indigenous is fun” taken by photographer under 16 years old

Download and complete the entry form for the gardening entries on the links below and submit it with maximum of three jpg images of your garden to goodhopegardens@hotmail.com by no later than the 1st of September 2013. No late entries will be accepted.

A judging panel will select 3 finalists in each gardening category to be visited and judged on the above criteria. Judges decisions will be final.

The photo entries can be posted onto the facebook competition page and the photo in each category with the most “likes” will be the winners. Or just send in your photo in a jpg format to goodhopegardens@hotmail.com with your contact details and category and we will post them on the page for you.

The winners in all categories will be announced at the prize giving on the 14th of September 2013 at Good Hope Gardens Nursery.

The competition is open to all residents of the South Peninsula. This includes all areas south of and including Noordhoek and Muizenberg.
